Our Delta Team is an employee volunteer group that provides guidance when it comes to diversity at Springs Utilities. Working with senior leadership, the team helps review our workplace systems to ensure that employees are treated with dignity, respect and fairness. Members also organize events and programs that educate employees about and celebrate the diversity in all of us.

In addition to increasing employee awareness, the Delta Team also partners with community agencies to share diverse voices throughout our community.

Vision
To create and sustain an environment that encourages every employee to accept individual differences, embrace inclusiveness, and be open to the realities surrounding our diversity. This will enable Colorado Springs Utilities to emerge as the employer of choice for current and future employees and to position us to evolve and thrive as an organization valued by the community

Mission
To encourage Colorado Springs Utilities employees to embrace and leverage diversity and be a model of inclusiveness in the community.

History
In 1993, the greater Colorado Springs Economic Development Corporation conducted research on the local community’s values and economic issues. Out of 13 values identified, equal employment opportunity and diversity were considered important.

The 1996 Springs Utilities employee survey identified opportunities for improvement, including motivation, employee involvement, handling grievances, fairness of appeals, effectiveness of the organization, efficiency of the organization, and training and development. The DELTA Team is responsible, in part, for reviewing these systems to ensure that employees are treated with dignity, respect and fairness. This includes:

  • Reviewing existing policies, programs and procedures as they relate to diversity
  • Recommending modifications or development of additional policies, programs and procedures
  • Managing Springs Utilities' diversity training
  • Identifying and addressing diversity concerns
  • Monitoring of Springs Utilities' overall progress in meeting its diversity goal
