Colorado Springs Utilities will receive the Patriot Award for outstanding employer support of the United States Army Reserve and National Guard today at the Colorado Springs City Council meeting beginning at 1 p.m. at City Hall, 107 N Nevada Ave.

The award, presented on behalf of the Department of Defense at the Colorado Springs City Council meeting, recognizes the support Springs Utilities has shown mobilized National Guardsmen and Reservists brought back on active duty in support of the Global War on Terror.

Lt. Col. Greg Kropkowski nominated Springs Utilities for the award and will present the certificate to Springs Utilities CEO Jerry Forte. A senior pricing analyst for the local utility, Kropkowski has been on active duty since 2005.

“I know my absence has been a strain on Colorado Springs Utilities, yet at all times since my mobilization, I have received the utmost support,” said Kropkowski, who will return to work this year.  “Springs Utilities takes pride in their employee’s service to the nation.”

Media Note: The award presentation is scheduled for 1 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 27 at City Hall, 107 N Nevada Ave.
