Water main project to impact traffic on Fountain Blvd.

Beginning Monday, June 18, and continuing for approximately one month, Colorado Springs Utilities is replacing a 12-inch cast iron water main with a new 12-inch PVC pipe underneath Fountain Boulevard, between S. Chelton Drive and Academy Park Loop. During construction, traffic on the affected portion of Fountain Boulevard will be restricted to one lane in each direction.

Traffic delays are expected throughout the duration of the project. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes whenever possible.

While not expected, there is always a risk for intermittent and/or emergency interruptions in water service to area homes and businesses. Scheduled service interruptions will be communicated to customers 24 hours in advance.

The Fountain Boulevard work is part of Springs Utilities’ Water Main Replacement Program and supports Springs Utilities’ ongoing efforts to provide reliable water services to its customers.
