Dec. 13, 2007Former Colorado Springs Utilities employee Donna Inzer was charged today with felony theft. She allegedly took $434,799 from the utility while a cashier supervisor. We are surprised and disappointed by the alleged actions, and will continue to work with authorities to resolve this matter. Already, we have recovered $419,491 through insurance intended to safeguard Springs Utilities against such a loss, and we fully expect to recover the remaining amount through the criminal justice process. It’s important to emphasize that no individual customer lost money and no account information was compromised. We took quick and appropriate steps to address the situation. This included involving the City Auditor and local law enforcement, who conducted a thorough investigation. Media contact: 719-668-3848 |
