1. Spring yard prep: Free classes, money saving rebates and online video
Residents can learn how to conserve water and save money on their utilities bill by attending free classes at the Conservation and Environmental Center/Xeriscape Demonstration Garden, 2855 Mesa Road. Also, they can save up to $200 in rebates on irrigation equipment.

*This class is followed by a garden tour at 11 a.m.

How to make your sprinkler system more efficient

Saturday, May 10, 10:30 a.m.
Drip irrigation

· Sprinkler heads with check valves

· Weather-based irrigation controller

Interview and photo opportunity: A Springs Utilities expert will be available for interviews to discuss the upcoming classes and rebates, show what some of the irrigation equipment looks like and/or provide a tour of the garden on Tuesday, May 6, 3 p.m., Conservation and Environmental Center/Xeriscape Demonstration Garden, 2855 Mesa Road.

2. Employee volunteers renovate Garden of the Gods
Employee volunteers will restore Garden of the Gods on their own, non-work time, to improve the appearance and surrounding environment for families and recreationists. Garden of the Gods is a popular destination for tourists and business travelers.
Interview and photo opportunity: Interview a Springs Utilities expert and video/photograph employee volunteers as they restore the trail, landscape, plant seeds and build a retaining wall on Saturday, May 3, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Garden of the Gods - Spring Canyon Picnic Area.
