Lighting rebates

Lighting represents one of the largest energy consumers for commercial and industrial customers. A facility has the potential to save more than 25 percent on its lighting energy costs by incorporating new energy efficient lighting technologies, which leads to greater profitability, productivity and efficiency.

We offer commercial lighting rebates designed to help offset the cost of installing efficient technology. When inefficient fixtures and/or bulbs are replaced with high efficiency products, or occupancy sensors are installed, you may be eligible for a rebate.

The process is fairly simple but certain requirements do have to be met. In a nutshell, the most important points are:

  1. Retrofits must be made to a commercial business that has electric service with Colorado Springs Utilities.
  2. The rebate is for existing facilities only – no new construction.
  3. Please review the lighting application and/or occupancy sensors application in its entirety to understand the requirements for eligibility.

Lighting Rebate - 2012 application, lighting data worksheet
Replace older lighting technologies with newer, more efficient fixtures or bulbs and receive a rebate. The rebate amount is based on the energy saved as determined by the pre and post inspections of the project. An estimate of the rebate amount can be found using the lighting data worksheet.

Occupancy Sensors - 2012 application

occupancy sensorReceive $24.70 for each light switch control point removed from a facility and replaced with a new occupancy sensor. Each new sensor must control a minimum of 150 watts including ballast.

Business rebates are given for tested and true energy-efficient measures that encourage customers to conserve energy, which saves your business money and helps protect the environment. Rebates are offered on a first come, first served basis and are subject to eligibility and availability of funds. Certain other conditions and restrictions apply.
