Hi, I'm Louie the Lightning Bug. Colorado Springs Utilities brings electricity to your house. Electricity powers our lights and keeps us cool. It runs machines, computers, televisions and a thousand other things. Electricity can be dangerous and hurt people if you aren't careful. For your safety, stay away from power lines and don't fly your kite around electric lines. Keep electrical appliances like hair dryers and radios away from showers, sinks and bathtubs. Don't climb trees near power lines, and only put plugs in electric outlets. How can you help save electricity and your parents money? - Turn off the lights when you leave a room.
- Turn off the TV when you're not watching it.
- Open the refrigerator door, get your snacks and close it right away. Don't stand around with the refrigerator door open.
- Don't leave your game running if you're not playing.
