A Utility Update for Education Professionals - April 2008

Concerned about the environment?
At Colorado Springs Utilities, we're trying to measure the importance of environmental issues within the community to see how we can help address those concerns. One group we would like to hear from is High School students.

If you're a high school teacher, we're hoping that you can share this survey with your students. We would greatly appreciate your help to learn more about what your students think about the environment. It will only take a few minutes.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Celebrate Earth Day with us
We're planning our second annual Earth Day event at the Conservation and Environmental Center (2855 Mesa Road). Bring the whole family - there will be events and activities for adults and kids, including water and energy efficiency workshops, displays, resources, mascots and a coloring contest.

You'll have the opportunity to learn more about:

  • Water and energy efficiency
  • Solar and wind power
  • Landscape techniques for our semi-arid climate
  • Wildlife protection
  • ENERGY STARŪ home improvements
  • Green vehicle technology
  • and much more!

This year, we've partnered with Wal-Mart to offer free compact fluorescent lamps to all who attend (while supplies last). Get there early to get you energy-saving lamp!

Free classes are scheduled for:

    9 a.m.: Introduction to Xeriscape(tm)
10 a.m.: Wildlife and raptor presentation
11 a.m.: Energy and water efficiency workshop

Displays, vendors and interactive activities will be available throughout the day. Food will be available for purchase.

We'll see you there!
