Customer Service Residential Business Community Environment About Us
Environment > Energy > Renewable Energy

We support the use of renewable energy to reduce the demand of fossil fuels for energy production and produce cleaner energy. The use of renewable energy conserves the world’s limited resources and reduces the release of atmospheric pollution associated with fossil fuel combustion. We support renewable energy by using hydroelectric power and bio-gas and encouraging the use of solar and wind power.

The concept of incorporating renewable energy in our resource portfolio is not new. One of our ruling guidelines states, “The community will receive a portion of its electric needs from renewable sources and be educated on renewable energy technologies."

Renewable energy can take many forms, including:

  • Wind
  • Solar (photovoltaic)
  • Biomass (landfill gas, forest thinning, animal waste)
  • Hydropower (water)
  • Geothermal power
