| Prior to testing, all testers shall register with Colorado Springs Utilities as follows: - Testers shall complete all requisite registration forms.
- Testers shall attend annual orientation (PDF) in Colorado Springs (usually in April).
- All reports shall be submitted to Colorado Springs Utilities, on the Test Report Forms (PDF), provided by Colorado Springs Utilities, within 5 calendar days of completion.
- Testers shall furnish a current copy of the 8.5” by 11” Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certification from a recognized certification program. Copies of wallet cards are not accepted.
- Testers shall provide a copy of current accuracy verification reports for all field test kits used in the Colorado Springs Utilities service area. Accuracy verification is required annually. Accuracy verification reports shall be issued by the gage manufacturer or an instrument certification company and shall contain the following information:
- Make, model, and serial number of the gage.
- Name and phone number of gage owner
- Accuracy readings documented at a minimum of five (5) points, representative of the full scale of the gage range (1.0, 2.0, 5.0, 7.5 and 15.0 psid recommended).
- Accuracy readings shall be accurate to +/- 0.2 psid recorded to the nearest 0.1 psid.
A list of approved backflow prevention testing companies (PDF) is published at the beginning of every month and distributed to customers along with the annual notice to test. Only companies with at least one registered tester will appear on the list. Registration updates must be received in writing, two business days prior to the last working day of the preceding month for which the change is requested.
