| With the dry climate and unique soil conditions in our region, Xeriscape TM is a way to save water, time and money in your landscape. The term Xeriscape comes from a combination of the Greek word "Xeros" meaning dry, and "scape" as in "landscape." At Colorado Springs Utilities, we define Xeriscape as an attractive, sustainable landscape that conserves water, is based on sound horticultural practices, and shows evidence of care. Learn more about the seven principles of Xeriscape at one of our classes or by requesting a free video on the Basics of Xeriscape. We also offer printable fact sheets on many topics to help you establish and maintain a beautiful, low-water landscape. Our Xeriscape Demonstration Gardens are free and open to the public. We encourage you to visit throughout the year to see how the beautiful variety of plants and trees change with the seasons.
