How is natural gas transported from the well to your gas burner? Click here to take the journey!

Click on this link to US Census Data to learn more about the"gas towns" which serve the gas fields and treatment plants at the beginning of the pipeline. These towns can be called "gas towns" because their economies depend in a large part on the natural gas industry.

Dumas, Texas
Beaver, Oklahoma
Lakin, Kansas
Elkhart, Kansas
Rawlins, Wyoming
Wamsutter, Wyoming

Census information for these towns was gathered in 1990 because the federal government only performs a census of the population every ten years.

The town may have grown or gotten smaller since the last census was completed. Choose a town. What can you learn about your town from this information? How does your town compare with Colorado Springs? What might it be like to live in your town?
Make a list of what you know about your town and what you still want to learn.
