Water is a valuable resource we can't afford to waste.

XERISCAPE practices will help save water....
maybe even eighty seven bazillion gallons, if we try.

WHAT IS XERISCAPE?

Xeriscape is derived from the Greek word, "XEROS", meaning DRY.
It describes landscaping with water conservation as a major objective.

HOW DOES IT DIFFER FROM REGULAR LANDSCAPING?

Primarily by the use of plants adapted to this area and the establishment of use zones. Not all plants need the same amount of water. Xeriscape recommends grouping plants by their water needs and using water efficient plants, too.

HOW MUCH WATER WILL XERISCAPE SAVE?

A lot depends on your water use habits.
A 25% to 50% saving in water use is a reasonable expectation.

WHAT ABOUT A LAWN?

Keep grass longer because it

  • shades roots
  • requires less water
  • forces roots to develop deeper
  • Water deeply, but not too often.
Most people water their lawns too much.

XERISCAPE is a water efficient landscape
using plants adapted to our area.
