MAP OF NORTH AMERICA
The red square above marks the location of the state of Colorado.
The Continental Divide is a mountain range
dividing Colorado from north to south.
Colorado and Hawaii are the only two states
where almost all water originates in the state
and then flows out of it.
The arrow to the Southeast shows the path water takes
after it leaves Colorado Springs on its way to the Gulf of Mexico.
Other water from the Eastern slope of Colorado flows
East to the Mississippi River Basin
before flowing South to the Gulf of Mexico.
Water from the Western slope of the Continental Divide
flows to the Pacific Ocean.
