Late fees
We do not currently charge a fee for payments received after the due date.
A $20 field visit fee is assessed when Colorado Springs Utilities personnel are required to visit a property to perform collection activities, including accepting a payment to continue services.
A $30 reconnect fee is charged after disconnection of services due to nonpayment. An additional $10 is charged if reconnection is required after business hours.
Start-up fees
For residential accounts, we generally do not require a deposit. If all services at an address are in service, there is no connection or start-up fee. Fees may apply, however, if it's necessary for field personnel to turn on one or more services at an address.
To start or stop service, please call us at 448-4800 or 800-238-5434.
Trip fees
- All customers are subject to a trip charge for field collection visits made on delinquent accounts.
- The fee is $20 and appears on your utility bill.
- Only one $20 trip fee is assessed per visit regardless of the number of utility services (electric, natural gas, water and wastewater).
- When a customer has multiple accounts requiring collection at the same location, on the same day, only one trip fee of $20 will be assessed.
After-hours reconnect fees
- For the purpose of the after hours reconnection charge, normal hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- All customers are subject to the after hours reconnection charge if a reconnect is requested outside normal hours of operation.
- The fee for after hours service connection is $40.
- Regardless of the number of utility services (electric, gas, water and wastewater) being reconnected, the customer will be assessed only one $30 (normal business hours) or $40 (after hours) reconnect fee per visit.
Field collection (trip) and after hours fees are intended to offset the administrative expenses, resources and travel time necessary to manage and collect on delinquent accounts - expenses that could otherwise impact customer rates.
All fees will appear on the front of the utility bill under the Adjustments/Fees section. The specific adjustment/fee will be indicated as either a Trip Charge or After Hours Reconnect Charge on the back.
