How does Colorado Springs Utilities deliver natural gas to your home?

Colorado Springs Utilities does not own a natural gas field. However, we own and maintain an extensive network of pipes that safely deliver natural gas to commercial and residential customers throughout Colorado Springs.

To reduce the impacts of market volatility on our customers, we incorporate a price-hedging program for the purchase of natural gas. The program calls for the hedging of more than 70% of our natural gas supply needs annually.

• Number of customers: 186,363 active gas meters
• Annual natural gas use: 24.02 Billion cubic feet @ 14.65 psia
• Peak demand: 269.8 million cubic feet Feb. 1, 2011*
• Miles of pipe: approximately 2,400
