Qualified irrigation controllers must be electronic or battery-operated and are for retrofit only. To be eligible for rebate, electronic controller must have a seasonal adjust or water budget feature; be programmable for multiple stations, programs and start times; and have the ability to connect to a rain shut-off device. Battery-operated controllers must have rain suspension override, multiple start time capability and automatic and manual operation. 

Rebate amount

$25, $50 or $100 depending on purchase amount of qualified equipment

Savings

Irrigation controllers reduce irrigation water use by an average of 10% and can save about $21 each year.

Eligibility

  • Participant must be a Springs Utilities residential water customer.
  • Customer account must be current and non-delinquent.
  • Available to residential customers only.
  • Equipment must be installed in the Springs Utilities water service area.
  • Some irrigation equipment rebates are available for new construction (see application for details).
  • Non-customers (applicants that do not have a Springs Utilities account) that pay their water bill through a Homeowner Association, or landlords who want to make upgrades to their residential rental properties in our service territory, are eligible for the rebate once it is verified that they use our services. If the rebate applicant is a non-customer, the applicant must speak to a products and service specialist for special instructions.

Requirements

  • Customer must purchase and install qualified irrigation equipment between Jan. 1, 2008 and Dec. 31, 2008.
  • Rebate applications must be postmarked by Dec. 30, 2008. Customers that make purchases in December 2008 have until Jan. 31, 2009 to submit applications, provided funding still exists.
  • Limit of one irrigation equipment rebate per household every three years.
  • Installation costs are not rebated.
  • Incomplete applications and those lacking a copy of the purchase receipts will be denied.
  • Installation site is subject to inspection by Springs Utilities staff.
  • If a property for which a rebate has been issued is found on inspection not to have qualifying irrigation equipment, the amount rebated will be charged back to the customer's account.
  • Rebates may take up to 6-8 weeks to process.
  • This rebate will be offered on a first come, first serve basis and rebates will be subject to availability of funds.
  • Applicants must complete affidavit of lawful presence in the United States. This information is on the last page of the application .

Steps

  1. Customer purchases and installs qualified irrigation equipment of at least $50 in value (see application for qualifying purchase details).
  2. Customer completes an application form.
  3. Customer returns completed application form and a copy of a legible purchase receipt to Springs Utilities. Purchase receipt must include customer’s full name and address, date of purchase, purchase price, equipment make and model numbers.
  4. Springs Utilities staff receives and reviews applications.
  5. Upon approval, rebate is credited to customer’s utility account within approximately 6-8 weeks.
