Colorado Springs Utilities' Office of Economic Development wins ​Downtown Partnership Star Award

Star AwardThe Downtown Partnership, a nonprofit organization, with a robust membership base of businesses, nonprofits and individuals representing the diversity of industries Downtown and citywide, honored three outstanding contributors to the economic, civic and cultural vitality of Downtown Colorado Springs at their 22nd annual breakfast on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019, with Downtown Star Awards.

The Downtown Partnership hands out its Star Awards to recognize contributions to the area by businesses, nonprofits and individuals.

Our of Economic Development was recognized for their support in addressing a variety of utility challenges that come with the evolution of business and development in the city’s historic heart. Under the objectives of the Urban Planning Area Utilities Infrastructure Master Plan, we are also holistically addressing upgrades to aging utility infrastructure, finding sustainable solutions and developing long-term plans that will allowdowntown and the entire city to thrive.

This award belongs to everyone at Colorado Springs Utilities who has worked on and supported this project. From revamping the redevelopment guidelines and being a representative on the redevelopment team, forecasting and modeling future growth and load, to supporting other significant projects aligned with the Master Plan, your work is making a difference and being recognized.

This truly has been a collaborative, organization-wide effort in innovative thinking and dedication to move this project forward and the office of Economic Development could not have done it alone. On behalf of our more than 1,800 employees, it's an honor to receive this award.
