Customer Service Week - The Magic of Serving You

  by  Steve  on  10/8/2019

CSW2019-logo-web.jpgOctober 7-11 is Customer Service Week, an international celebration of the importance of customer service and of the people who serve and support customers on a daily basis. In 1992, the U.S. Congress proclaimed Customer Service Week a nationally recognized event, celebrated annually during the first full week of October.

As a four-service, community-owned utility, our customers are our owners and are at the center of everything we do. This is a paramount message that is reinforced in all corners of Colorado Springs Utilities.

There are many employees who make a complex and large organization like ours function each day safely, reliably and efficiently. However, one team above all perfectly embodies the benefits of being a locally-owned and managed utility – our in-house customer service team.

Unlike most companies, when you call 448-4800 you’re speaking with representatives who live right here in the Colorado Springs area. Many of them are customers too.

There are 72 customer service representatives at Colorado Springs Utilities who take approximately 1,700 calls a day to provide service to a geographical area that includes more than 500,000 people. Our representatives must be ready to respond to both straightforward and complex questions that can range from account information and starting and stopping service, to safety concerns, outage information and conservation programs.

Beyond our knowledgeable and skilled customer service representatives, there are hundreds of employees across the organization committed to providing excellent customer service including our emergency dispatch representatives; billing experts; project engineers; project planners; financial planners; training staff; field technicians; barricade professionals; pipefitters; electric lineworkers; construction and maintenance workers; welders; and many more.

If you happen to see one of our employees this week, please extend a “thank you” or give them a thumbs up. As Customer Service Week symbolizes, our employees love serving the community, so receiving occasional recognition from our customers means the world to them.
