What’s your favorite part of the traditional Thanksgiving meal? The turkey? The stuffing? The pecan pie? (My problem is I love it all.)
What’s the worst part of the Thanksgiving meal? Cleaning up!
After spending half the day preparing and then an hour eating 3 days worth of calories, the last thing you want to do is roll off the couch to clean it all up!
All those things that taste so yummy, often leave the real secret ingredients (fat, oil and grease, or FOG) behind in the pan. In an effort to simply be done, many will pour all that FOG down the sink drain.
However, all that FOG can damage your pipes like cholesterol sticking in your arteries. So, this year, as you’re cleaning up after the incredible feast, ask yourself this question: Would you drink the fat?
Unless you’re Ross from Friends, I don’t think you would.
So, then, why would you put it down the drain?
Let’s face it, you don’t want that stuff sticking to your pipes and causing a wastewater backup in your home any more than you want to have it clog your arteries!
Take the extra minute or two to soak it up with a paper towel or pour it into a can, and then toss it in the trash. Your pipes thank you, and our treatment facilities thank you.
