On Sept. 13, we filed our annual rate case and requested a public hearing for Oct. 25, 2016. The rate filing supports the operations and maintenance expenditures necessary to continue to provide safe and reliable utilities services.
If approved, the typical, four service residential bill will increase $2.60 effective Jan. 1, 2017. While there aren't any changes proposed to residential base rates for electricity and natural gas, we've recommended a decrease to wastewater rates and an increase to water rates.
- The change to wastewater rates is driven by a recommendation to change the wastewater rate methodology to be consistent with the methodology used for other utility services.
- Like most water utilities across the nation, our system is old and in need of repair. In recent years, we've focused on expanding the system to support our growing community. Now that Southern Delivery System is online, we must concentrate on the necessary repairs and upgrades to the water system that have been in operation for decades.
