Crews began water line replacement beneath N. Nevada Avenue, from E. Willamette Street to E. Polk Street, to enhance system reliability in mid-December 2018. The project is proceeding well and we greatly appreciate the cooperation and support from motorists and customers in the area.
As of late January:
- Work is complete at the intersections of N. Nevada Avenue and Columbia and Willamette streets.
- We're nearing completion at the intersection of N. Nevada Avenue and Polk Street.
- We expect work at the intersection of N. Nevada Avenue and Madison Street to begin soon.
Water main replacement beneath the final intersection, N. Nevada and Del Norte Street, is scheduled to be completed March 25-29, during Spring Break for nearby Steele Elementary.
Traffic management: Detour patterns may vary for these last projects, so please follow signage on site. Generally, traffic on N. Nevada Avenue will be shifted to the outside lanes in each direction, which are normally used as bike lanes and for parking. No biking or parking will be allowed near or within the active construction zone. Significant traffic delays are expected and nearby streets may experience additional traffic. Please watch for signage, traffic control measures and reduce speed in the cone zone.
Construction work hours are expected to be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, however night and/or weekend work is possible.
Water outages: Customers who will be affected by planned water outages will be notified 24 hours in advance via notice at the door. Please note that unplanned outages also may occur with any project.
