Renewable energy rebates

 Renewable energy rebates

Funding for the residential renewable energy rebates are fully reserved for 2015. Residential customers can still complete a reservation form to be added to a waiting list to be notified if additional funding becomes available.

Bringing clean, renewable energy to our community is everyone's responsibility, and we want to help you do your part. Solar electric panels, or photovoltaics, convert the renewable energy of the sun into useful electricity that is pollution-free and avoids burning fossil fuels.

Our renewable energy rebate for photovoltaics supports and encourages the installation of solar PV generating systems at homes and businesses. Solar energy helps protect the environment, diversifies our energy supply, creates energy independence and reduces our summer peak capacity requirements.

Business and residential customers are eligible for a $1 per watt rebate through June 30, 2015, at which time the rebate will decrease to $0.50 per watt. Depending on the installation, 40 to 60 percent of the total system cost could be covered by rebates and tax credits.

How solar works

Demonstration panels
We have a 2 kilowatt demonstration solar project at our Conservation and Environmental Center at 2855 Mesa Rd. Monitor the performance of the center's solar electric system online. When you visit the center, check out the panels on the roof and look for the solar power information display in our Xeriscape garden.

Solar hot water and solar thermal
Rebates are available for residential solar domestic hot water and commercial solar thermal.
