Our goal at the Water Wise Demonstration Garden is to showcase beautiful, usable, water-wise landscaping. Our Water Wise Neighborhood is an expansion of the garden in response to visitors who noted that while they loved the garden’s plant collection, they still didn’t know how to apply it to their own landscapes.
The Water Wise Neighborhood includes five water-wise front yards that each showcase a low-water lawn, complementary planting bed and examples of sustainable landscape design. The yards are arranged around five metal house sculptures to help utility customers easily see how to use the designs, plants and irrigation practices in their own yards. The project is the first water conservation garden in Colorado to relate low-water landscaping to house structures.
Each yard theme provides solutions to the most common barriers, including
Each yard has a low-water lawn and complementary planting of shrubs, perennials and groundcovers.
The garden and the neighborhood is open 24/7 at 2855 Mesa Rd. Stop by Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to speak with one of our water experts. They will gladly answer your water wise landscape questions.
