Our Strategic Plan is an integral tool to guide us toward sustaining fiscal responsibility, planning for long-term risks and identifying opportunities to attract, retain and satisfy our valued customers.
A sound plan puts us all on the same page so that our work is focused, productive, effective and allows us to deliver on our mission: “to provide safe, reliable, competitively-priced electric, natural gas, water and wastewater services to the citizens and customers of Colorado Springs Utilities.”
Four key perspectives set a vision for the plan. They are:
- Providing value to our customers and community.
- Ensuring responsible financial and asset management.
- Managing and enhancing internal process excellence and organizational effectiveness.
- Making people, safety and the environment the building blocks of our organization.
A team of employees from across the organization served as Strategic Planning Champions. They informed their work areas and gathered feedback on the plan, helping to develop initiatives and bring the strategy map into greater focus.
This strategy is actionable. It identifies 10 strategic objectives that involve all employees by better operationalizing the organization’s goals and aligning day-to-day work, projects, programs and initiatives.
Progress will be tracked logically through performance plans that link individual and group goals to strategic objectives.
This Strategic Plan went into effect on July 1, 2020.
