Siberian Peashrub
Siberian peashrub is a drought-tolerant, erect shrub with an oval shape (taller than broad). Bright, small yellow flowers are pea-shaped and followed by a fruit that resembles a short, narrow peapod.
The compound leaves are light green in color with short stiff spines at the nodes. The leaves turn yellow in the fall. The bark is shiny green. Its thorns can be quite small or large enough to be visible.
It is a resilient shrub and adaptable to many conditions. It is a good choice for low-water landscapes in the Colorado Springs area. Siberian peashrub is easy to grow and tolerates drought, alkalinity and wind.
