We're proud to announce that Colorado Springs Utilities has been honored with the Champion of Well-Being Emerging Leader Award from Health Links, a nonprofit dedicated to worker health and well-being. This award recognizes our commitment to fostering a healthy and supportive work environment where our team members can thrive in all areas of their lives.

The award was accepted by our newly appointed Safety and Health Manager, Sara Akins, at the Health Links Annual Event. Sara, a key leader behind our work culture initiatives, expressed her excitement about the recognition.

“It’s really exciting to see our efforts recognized in this way,” said Akins. “We’ve been working hard to create a culture where people feel supported in every aspect of their lives—not just at work. This award shows we’re on the right track.”

What Is Total Worker Health?

Our focus on employee well-being is part of a broader philosophy called Total Worker Health, developed by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). This isn't just about traditional safety measures. It's a holistic approach that considers every part of an employee's life—from physical and mental health to financial stability and community engagement.

When our employees are healthy and supported, they're in the best position to deliver the safe and reliable services our community depends on. This award is a reminder that our commitment to our team is a direct reflection of our commitment to you.
