Help shape the future of residential solar

A solar panel photographed at dusk.

We’re asking both solar and non‑solar customers to share their perspectives through a brief survey as we evaluate possible updates to our program for residential solar.

Your feedback will help guide how we move forward, and ensure future proposals are informed by the people they affect.

Why we’re asking for your input

Today, about 10,000 customers have residential solar and exchange energy with our grid. Under current rates, the costs related to serving customers with solar are not fully reflected, which creates a growing cost shift between solar and non‑solar customers. Addressing this is important, but it must be done thoughtfully and with community input.

This survey is the first step in that process. Your responses will influence how potential solutions are evaluated as we work toward a revised proposal.

What happens next

Here’s what to expect following the survey:

  • Jan. 2026 - Customer survey is live and closes Jan. 30th
  • March 2026 - Focus group discussions begin.
  • Spring 2026 - Feedback shared with the Utilities Board and used to develop updated program options.
  • Summer 2026 - Proposed net metering options presented to City Council.

We’ll continue to share updates and resources throughout the process.

Take the survey

Whether or not you have residential solar, your perspective matters. The survey takes just a few minutes, and every response helps guide a more informed, balanced approach.

Thank you for taking the time to share your voice.
