Electric time of use rate

 Electric time of use rate

We offer you a way to save money on your electric bill with our time of use option.

Time of use rates are based on the time in which you use electricity. Similar to peak pricing used for air travel, cell phone, hotel stays, etc. time of use electric rates mean that you pay lower rates during periods of low demand (i.e. off-peak) and higher rates during periods of maximum demand (i.e. on-peak).

A typical residential customer uses about 25 percent of their electricity during on-peak hours. If you use more than 750 kilowatt hours (kWh) a month and think you can shift to have 88 percent or more of your electric use to off-peak times then you are a prime candidate for our time of use option.

Our on-peak hours are Monday through Friday and vary by season:

  • Summer (April to September): 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Winter (October to March): 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Off-peak hours are all other times as well as the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

The more you shift, the more you can save. Call us at 448-4800 or 800-238-5434 for more information or to sign-up.
