Water project

Austin Bluffs Water System Improvements

Map of the project area. The Future pump station and the new water tank are located south of the end of Rockhurst Boulevard and near the Happy Trail trailhead. We are replacing a large water tank and building a new pump station in Austin Bluffs Open Space to ensure we continue to deliver safe and reliable water to you.

This project is part of a 5-year infrastructure improvement plan designed to strengthen our water system.

Water tank replacement and new pump station

The new water tank replaces a 5-million gallon tank built in in 1961 that is reaching the end of its life. We will demolish the old steel tank and replace it with a new tank of the same capacity at the same site.

Once the new tank is in service, we plan to construct a new pump station and install a new large 36-inch water main along Rockhurst Boulevard and connect it to our water distribution system at Union Boulevard and Montebello Drive.

Once complete, this pump station will be the largest in our system and will play a key role in our system. The pump station and water main will connect the west section of our system to the east.
